Jarošáček

About us

"It is not an art I would devour more than a folk song" Fr. Kožík

The children's folk group "Jarošáček" was founded in 1994 in the dance section of the Basic Art School in Mělník. The group has its folk band, made up of teachers, pupils and school supporters. The aim of the group is to familiarize children and youth with the roots of our culture and to bring the folk art closer to the contemporary audience.

The body focuses mainly on the stage processing of Czech folk songs, dances and customs. But there is also a performance prepared for:

  • competition shows
  • street performances as part of folk pilgrimages and entertainment
  • commercial use (travel agencies, companies, etc.)
  • separate performances of band without a dance component

The group during its existence represented the school and the town of Mělník at many important domestic and foreign festivals. At the shows and competitions of the dance disciplines of the Primary art schools and children's folklore groups regularly takes the most important places.

The group organizes its own concerts and occasionally performs with Czech and foreign groups. We closely cooperate with the group "Jarošovci", where many members of Jarošáček found their application in adulthood. The groups together released a CD "There is the long path to Mělník".

In September 2012, there was a change in the group organization. Jarošáček's activity is supported and managed by the Association of Parents and Friends of the Children's Folk Group, which is co-organizer of the Mělnický Vrkoč Music and Dance Festival.
